Manuel Allison

Manuel Allison, 80, of Gainesville, died Monday, April 16, 2001 at his residence.

A funeral service was held 10 a.m. Wednesday, April 18, 2001 at Commerce Street Church of Christ in Gainesville with Mr. Percy Parrish officiating, assisted by Mr. Ronnie Quaid and Mr. Walter Vincent.

Burial followed at Oakwood Cemetery in Corsicana under the direction of Clement-Keel Funeral Home in Gainesville. A family visitation was held at Clement-Keel Funeral Home on Tuesday night.

Born Jan. 31, 1921 in Vivian, La. to John and Ruth Allison, Mr. Allison worked for Arco Oil Company for 36 years. He married Bessie Fae Kelly on Dec. 20, 1941 in Gladewater. He was a member of the Optimist Club in Quitman and coached Little League Baseball.

Survivors include his wife, Bessie Fae Allison of Gainesville; three sons and daughters-in-law, Jerry and Stephanie Allison of Shamrock, Philip and Lena Allison of Gainesville and Mike and Patti Allison of Roscoe; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; one sister, Marie Vasarevic of Tyler; and one sister-in-law, Luella Allison of Lefors.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Manuel Allison, Jr.; two brothers, Johnny Allison and Marvin Allison; and one sister.

Pallbearers were friends and family members.
