LAURA B. DUFPHEY Laura died peacefully Saturday, February 3, 2007 after a short illness.
She was born April 6, 1922 in Omaha, NE.
She was the daughter of John B. and Helen Tanner Dufphey of Battle Creek, NE. She attended Battle Creek Public Schools and Doane College in Crete, NE. In 1947 she married Mark H. Allison of Denver, CO and the following year they moved to Albuquerque.
Mr. Allison continued his work as a representative for the William Wrigley Jr. Co. until his death in 1979. For many years she was employed as a legal secretary for the Archdiocese of Santa Fe in Albuquerque.
Laura was a loving mother of four children, and was a steadfast supporter of all their endeavors. She had an interest in the arts, and loved music and books.
She was a constant reader who instilled a love of reading in her children and grandchildren, carrying on the legacy of her mother who was a founder of the Battle Creek Public Library. Her ability to solve the toughest crossword puzzles was legendary. Laura's positive nature and sense of humor was always a delight.
Laura made many friends over the years and was well loved by many people and her pugs. She will be greatly missed. She was a longtime member of Trinity United Methodist Church. She is survived by her daughter, Marcia Travers-Smith (Richard Travers-Smith) and granddaughters, Alyssa and Serena Travers-Smith of Lewes, Great Britain; son, John Allison, (Cathy Wiest) of Albuquerque; daughter, Carol Allison-Huntress, (Erny Huntress), and granddaughter, Ariel Huntress, of Albuquerque; daughter, Betsy Nazare, (Dave Nazare) and granddaughter, Rachel Nazare of Park City, UT; sister, Dorothy Walz of Randolph, NE; and six nieces and nephews; 14 grandnieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Mark Hinkle Allison; brother, Don Dufphey; and sister-in-law, Lucy Hayden.
Services will be held Friday, February 9, 2007, 11:00 a.m. at Trinity United Methodist Church, 3715 Silver Ave. SE. Albuquerque, NM 87108.
