George W. Allison was born August 28, 1851 in Florida, Missouri. He passed to his reward August 18, 1925, lacking only ten days of being 74 years of age. Mr. Allison came to Kansas in May of 1870 after being graduated from the law department of the University of Missouri. For some years he was associated with his brother, B.A. Allison in the legal profession. On October 19, 1880 he was married to Mary Ellen Lenoir of Columbia, Mo. The home life created by this marriage has been ideal. It has been known for a long time that Christian hospitality is genuinely demonstrated in the Allison home.
As a citizen of McPherson County and City George W. Allison's name will long be remembered as a public benefactor. Besides serving two terms as county attorney he also rendered valuable service as a member of the city council and the board of education. Every worthy undertaking in the community always had his backing and influence.
For a number of years Mr. Allison was a member of the Methodist Church but soon after his arrival in McPherson he united with the Christian Church were he has been a loyal member ever since. At the time of his death he was an elder in the Church as well as a member of the board of trustees. For many years he was a most active member of the Forum.
Those who are left to survive the deceased are the wife, Mrs. G. W. Allison, one son, Geo. L. Allison, three brothers, B.A. Allison of McPherson, John S. Allison of Monrovia, California, and W. M. Allison of Miami, Oklahoma, as well as two sisters Mrs. Emma Berry of Columbia, MO., and Mrs. Mary E. Hayth of Dallas, Texas. The funeral service was held at the Christian Church at 2:30 p.m. August 20, 1925, conducted by Lawrence S. Ashley, minister of the church. Interment was in McPherson Cemetery."
