Obituary:

From the Arkansas Paper; Veteran's Pay Tribute to Dr. Allis

Legion honors Memory of noted Physician Sunday at Ft. Roofs (Roots) in Arkansas.

Dr. Earl Karl Allis, 58, a good and useful man is gone. He was a man's man and his memory is revered and out of the hearts of hundreds of friends, associate members of the personnel as well as the rank and file of the veterans and many on the outside, goes an eulogy in tribute to his long and faithful service and honored memory. The lodge of sorrow held on Sunday morning jammed the large Fort Roots Auditorium and was in charge of M. M. Eberts Past, American Legion of Little Rock and stirring words in tribute to the deceased were uttered in deepest respect and devotion by commander of the post, Warren Osgood.

A fervent prayer was offered by that well-known Legion chaplain, Jess Crossett and sacred music, dear to the hearts of the deceased, was rendered on the organ. So our departed friend has entered the celestial halls of eternity where the salutation of divine approval, through God's grace, has been bestowed upon him, with the greeting. Come welcome, rest – enter thou good and faithful servant into the joys of thy Lord". For such true and conscientious men as Dr. Allis, there is a reward awaiting in the bright beyond and we believe a loving Heavenly Father will be standing in the shadows waiting to extend the hand of peace and fellowship.

Dr. Allis had served consistently and dependably the past eight years at Ft. Roots where at the time of his death, he was first assistant to the manager, Dr. John H. Baird. Words are empty in any effort we may make to express our esteem and friendship for the deceased, but the times desires to join in the heart felt sympathy and condolence to the sorrowing members of the immediate family and intimate friends.

Arkansas Death Index gives the death date as 25 Nov 1940 in Pulaski Co., AR. Note: Death year on stone may be incorrect.
