Roger Walter Allington passed away August 3, 2013 in Bellevue Washington. He was born to Walter Allington (deceased in 1982) and Elsie Coleman Allington (deceased in 1998) on July 12, 1933, in French Camp, CA.

He graduated from Central Union High School in Fresno, California, and attended Fresno City College, Fresno State University, Chapman University and the University of Alaska Southeast.

Roger moved to Alaska in 1969 where he worked for Alaska DOT/PF for several years before moving on to, Sealaska Corp., KCM and Shaan-Seet, Native Corporations.

He was active in the development of the Alaska Coastal Management Act and served as Co-Chair of the Alaska Coastal Policy Council during its first two years when the Guidelines and Standards for that Act were being promulgated.

He served as an Assemblyman and Planning Commissioner for the City and Borough of Juneau. He was a member of the Juneau Lions Club and was recognized as Lion of the Year for 2000, after co-chairing the Juneau Lions Club Year 2000 Gold Medal Basketball Tournament.

While in Juneau, he was active in church and community affairs serving as an Elder and a Deacon in the Northern Light United Church of Juneau. As a thespian he was involved with the Juneau-Douglas Little Theater, Perseverance Theater and the "Hootchinoo and Hotcakes" summer theater in Juneau.

In 2001 he moved to Bellevue Washington where he was active with the St. Peter's United Methodist Church and the Bellevue Breakfast Rotary Club.

He had four natural children; Laura Beth Kirn (deceased), Ronald Allington of Alaska, Kathryn Johnson of Longview WA and Edith Walls of Kingman AZ; and four step-children he helped raise with Ruth Allington; Brady Winniford (deceased), Randal Winniford, Richard Winniford and Terrie Murray (deceased). Ruth passed away on July 9, 2000.

On October 28, 2001, he married Laureva "Reva" Lafavour (deceased) and enjoyed the company of her children and grandchildren

In addition to his surviving children, he is survived by his siblings, Marshall Allington, Midge Kennedy, and Norman Allington, and 17 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren.
