Fred N. Allington, 82, of 816 W. Moffitt died Wednesday, Dec. 22, 1999, at Heritage Manor Nursing Home.

Born May 19, 1917, in Chillicothe to Fred and Jessie Topping Allington, he married Virginia Taylor. He later married Sue Hoffman in April 1974. She survives.

Also surviving are one daughter, Shirley Calvin of Chillicothe; four brothers, Bill (and Betty) of Chillicothe, Charles of Peoria, Bob (and Mary) of Santa Maria, Calif., and Jim of Rockford; and two sisters, Frieda Fisler and Jessie Colwell, both of Chillicothe.

A member of the United Transportation Union for 55 years, he worked for Santa Fe Railroad for 36 years, retiring as a conductor in 1978.

He also was a volunteer for the Shrine Circus.

He was a life member of the Peoria Casting Club.

He was a 50-year member of the George Washington Masonic Lodge 222. He also was a member of the Mohammed Temple, Shrine, in Peoria, and the Scottish Rite Bodies, Valley of Peoria.

Burial will be in Chillicothe City Cemetery.
