WALTER ALLIN
Well Known Real Estate Man Dies on Missionary Ridge
WALTER ALLIN, one of the pioneer citizens of Chattanooga, died yesterday morning at 7:45 o'clock at the residence of his brother, JEWETT ALLIN, on Missionary Ridge near McCallie avenue. The deceased had been suffering with nervious prostration for several months at his home on Chamberlain avenue, Sherman Heights, but was apparently recovering when he went to the home of his brother for a visit. Here, however, he suffered a severe relapse and sank rapidly until he passed away yesterday morning.

WALTER ALLIN was widely known throughout the eastern grand division of the state, and had done more than any other man, possibly, to straighten out the disputed land titles in the counties of East Tennessee. He was one of the best known real estate agents in Chattanooga in the 80's, and, associated with his brother, JEWETT, under the firm name of ALLIN Bros., laid out the first suburb of the city. At the time of his death he was at the head of the timber and coal lands department of the Chattanooga Trust company.

The deceased was born in Missouri in the year 1842, being 62 years old at the time of his death. His mother came from well known Virginia parentage and his father was a scion of one of the most prominent families in Kentucky. When ___ man, Mr. ALLIN married Miss AMANDA DUNLAP. The deceased died childless, but is survived by his wife and mother, who is an octogenarian. He was the oldest of nine children, all others of whom are still living. He was a devout Christian and was held in respect and esteem by all who knew him.

Funeral services will be private, and will be conducted at the residence of JEWETT ALLIN at 2:30 p.m. today, Rev. TAYLOR of Sherman Heights officiating. Interment will take place in Forest Hills cemetery. Chattanooga Times, 28 Aug 1904 [Hamilton County Genealogical Society]
