Alice Conger Allen

Alice Wells Conger Allen, 86, formerly of Washington, W. Va., departed this life April 17, 2004, from St. Joseph's Hospital.

She was born in Jackson County, a daughter of the late Jesse and Minnie Gilpin Wells.

She was a homemaker and had worked at Borg Warner for ARA Services and also at American Viscose. She was a member of the Camden Avenue Church of Christ.

She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law Paul and Sue Conger of Parkersburg; two daughters and sons-in-law, Kathryn and Robert Stephens of Washington and Gloria and Charlie Atkinson of Jacksonville, Fla.; a son-in-law, Charles Burk of Washington; six grandchildren, Terri and Steve Richards, Michael Burk, Angela and Mark Mascolino, Sheryl Conger and her fiancé, Jason Carrithers, Kimberly and Paul Holapa and Jennifer and Randy Zalubil; four great-grandchildren, Matthew Richards, Kira Burk, Charles Holapa and Zachary Zalubil; and a sister, Marie Gallagher of Parkersburg.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Ted E. Conger; her second husband, Denver Allen; a daughter, Roberta Burk; and two brothers, Harry and Perry Wells.

Services will be 11 a.m. Monday at Leavitt Funeral Home, Parkersburg, with the Rev. Shawn Hall officiating. Burial will be at Parkersburg Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. today and 9-11 a.m. Monday

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association or the charity of donor's choice.
