Mrs. Jerry Ahern
Mrs. Jerry Ahern of near Bernard died at her home there Friday morning at 9:15 o'clock following a short illness.
As Mary Bridget Allen she was born September 3, 1879, the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Allen and was married to Jerry Ahern at South Garryowen on Nov. 14, 1905.
She was a member of St. Patrick's church and the Rosary society at N. Garryowen and well and popularly known as a fine Christian character to many in this vicinity.
Survivors include her husband, two sons Francis and Walter both at home, Mrs. Joe Marbach of Bernard and Mildred at home; one grandson, three brothers: James, John and Tom Allen all of South Garryowen, and one sister Mrs. Pat Shanahan of North Garryowen.
Funeral services were held from her home to St. Patrick's church, North Garryowen on Monday morning at nine o'clock. Rev. Malone officiated both at the church and cemetery.
Casket bearers were Mike Lammers, Tade Penny Vincent Donovan, James Donovan, Joe Donovan, Mose McDonnell, Earl Miller and Clem Donovan.
Those from a distance attending the funeral were Sister Mary Patricia and Sister Mary Eleanor, Sisters of Mercy of Cedar Rapids, Mrs. John Brennan and Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Brennan and family of LeMars; John Young, Tom Dwyer and John Ryan of Wakonda, South Dakota.
