Mildred died Saturday, November 20, 2004, at the Sioux Valley Memorial Hospital in Cherokee, Iowa.
Funeral services for Mildred Mummert, 84, of Aurelia, Iowa, were 2:30 P.M. Tuesday, November 23, 2004, at the Redig Funeral Home in Aurelia, with Pastor Larry Nilson of Mt. Olive Baptist Church officiating. Burial was in the Good Hope Cemetery, rural Cherokee, Iowa.
On March 14, 1942 she married Dale Mummert in Dakota City, Nebraska. She worked as a Home Health Aid for many years at MHI in Cherokee, and at Sunset Knoll Retirement Home in Aurelia. Mildred was a member of the Mt. Olive Baptist Church. She enjoyed being with family and adored all her grandchildren. She also loved taking care of all her many pets.
Preceding Mildred in death were her parents, and her husband Dale on July 24, 1974.
Survivors include her son Dan Mummert of Polo, Illinois, daughter Diane Harrison of Richland, Washington, six grandchildren, Shelley and her husband Chris Ballantyne of Aurelia, Mark and his wife Jenny Mummert of Georgia, Chris and his wife Stacy Hankel, Shannon and his wife Julie Hankel, Carrie and her husband Justin Fox all of Oregon, and Whitney Harrison of Washington, and nine great-grandchildren. Also surviving are two sisters, Bonnie and her husband George Biller of Milledgeville, Illinois, and Pat and her husband Dean Decker of Vandalia, Michigan, and several nieces and nephews.
