J. M. was Jehu Max Allen, son of Josiah Allen and Mary Polly Briggs Allen, married Elizabeth Jane "Annie" Caves in 1854 in Winn Parish, LA. He was born in Mississippi and was one of twelve children. Jehu and "Annie" had eleven children including: Louisa A., Pernecia, Arenia "Irene", Columbus Christopher, an infant daughter, Jeff Davis, Jehu Wilmer, Charles Thomas, William Wriley, Larecia, Rosa Belle.
