Carson McDonald Allen, 97, a lifelong resident of Charlotte, NC, died April 8, 2009 at his residence.

He was born August 13, 1911 in Charlotte, NC, a son of the late John W. Allen and Minnie G. Allen.

He was a graduate of Central High School and retired from McDonald - Douglas Aircraft and Westinghouse Corporation. During World War II, he served 32 months as a technical sergeant in China- Burma- India Theater.

Mr. Allen was preceded in death by his wife of 72 years, Alene M. Allen and two daughters, Sylvia Lane Allen and Brenda Gayle Allen.

He is survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

A charter member of Park Road Baptist Church, a service to celebrate his life will be held in the sanctuary, 11:00 a.m. Friday, April 10, 2009 with The Reverends Russ and Amy Jacks Dean, Senior Ministers officiating. Burial will follow in Historic Elmwood Cemetery in uptown Charlotte. The family will greet friends from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. in the church narthex.

Memorials may be made to his church, Park Road Baptist Church, 3900 Park Road, Charlotte, NC 28209.

Arrangements are entrusted to McEwen Funeral Service at Sharon Memorial Park, 5716 Monroe Road, Charlotte, NC 28212.
