(FIVE POINTS) Ida Mae Allen of Five Points, 75, died May 26, 1994, in Piedmont Hospital, Atlanta, Ga. Services for her were at 11 a.m. Monday, May 30, at Pine Grove United Methodist Church, LaFayette, with Rev. James E. Gresham, pastor, officiating.
Interment was in Handy Cemetery, LaFayette.
Mrs. Allen was born Nov. 19, 1918, in Chambers County, daughter of the late Mr. and
Mrs. Glenn and Mattie Allen of Five Points. She received her early education in Chambers
County and received a degree in elementary education from Tuskegee University. After
retiring from her career as a teacher, she served as a parish minister with the ministry of
Roanoke Parish of the United Methodist Church. She was a member of Pine Grove UMC, Eastern Star Lily of the Valley Chapter No. 56 and Herion of Jericho Court No. 50.
Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Gwendolyn Tyler of Atlanta; two sisters, Mrs.
Abbie McDowell of Chattanooga, Tenn., and Mrs. Selena Ward of Five Points; one brother, Kyle Allen of Forestville, Md.; her step-mother, Mrs. Malinda Jones of LaFayette; and one granddaughter, four nieces and two nephews.
Arrangements were by Vines Funeral Home, LaFayette.
