THE BLOOMFIELD NEWS, Bloomfield, Greene County, Indiana
Ann (CASAD) ALLEN, wife of John R. ALLEN, living in Center Township, east of Park, died at 10 o'clock Sunday night of pulmonary trouble and a complication of diseases, after a lingering illness covering many months, the last seven of which she was confined to her bed. She was born in the neighborhood of Park, January 4, 1849, and resided near the scene of her birth during all of her life except a brief sojourn in Minnesota, one summer in Kansas and two years in Bedford.
December 4, 1861, when she still lacked one month of being sixteen, she was married to John R. ALLEN. To this union fourteen children were born, eight of whom are dead, and three married daughters and three sons still at home survive. She united with the M. E. Church in January 1865, and throughout her life she was not only an earnest and devoted Christian, but always took an active interest in all church work. She was a sister to Mrs. R. J. CORBLEY, of Bloomfield. She had a host of friends and the large crowd that attended the funeral, in spite of the bitter cold, attested to the high esteem in which she was held by all who knew her.
The funeral took place Tuesday morning at 11 o'clock at Walnut Grove, conducted by the Rev. Patrick H. FAULK, after which the remains were lade to rest in the cemetery at that place.
