OBITUARY
KEITH ALLEN
Larry Keith Allen, 34, was born October 27, 1976 in Baton Rouge, LA. He was the 3rd child of Tom and Miki Allen. He has an older brother, Charles Thomas Allen and older sister, Melinda Suzanne Allen Miller. Keith was named after his fraternal grandfather, Keith Allen and his fraternal uncle, Larry Allen. When Keith was 3 years old his family moved to Chariton, IA. Keith attended Lucas Elementary and graduated from Chariton High School in 1995.
In 1996 Keith joined the United States Army. He served his country in Germany and was in the Kosovo conflict. He served our country for 6 years until 2001. Upon his honorable discharge Keith returned home to Chariton briefly before returning to Baton Rouge, LA. Keith spent approximately one year in Louisiana with longtime family friends, the Moran family.
Keith knew the value of an education and went back to college. He graduated from Northwest Missouri State University in 2004 with a Bachelor's of Science in Financial Services. Upon college graduation Keith began working for Werner Enterprises which took him to the Denver, CO area. During Keith's time in Colorado he lived with good friend, Tucker Thompson. In the Fall of 2008 Keith returned home. Upon his return Keith took a job working in the Hy-Vee Deli. For the past year and a half Keith worked at R & R Tire. On weekends Keith was the primary driver of the "Outlaw Limo Service."
Keith was an extraordinary man. His laugh was contagious, his smile bright, and his friendship unmatched. If you ever encountered Keith you gained a friend for life. Keith will be missed and remembered forever.
Keith received several awards and honors in his time in the service. He received the Combat Lifesaver, Army Achievement Medal (2), Army Commendation Medal, Driver and Mechanics Badge, Army Good Conduct Medal, Kosovo Campaign Medal with 2 Bronze Stars, Army Service Ribbon and the Overseas Service Ribbon.
Services for Keith were held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, September 15, 2011 at the Fielding Funeral Home with Pastor Allen J. Wiese officiating. Serving as bearers were Kelly Hoffman, Chris Mullins, Dan Pfeifer, Matt Williams, John Finarty and Tucker Thompson. Honorary bearers were Rick Braaksma, Rick Elmore, Randy Braaksma, Ryan Matheny, Justin Stuart, Bruce Werts, Robert Keneely and C. R. Robertson. Interment was in the Chariton Cemetery.
