Amelia Gertrude Allen McDonald, 88, of Woodstock, Virginia, died Friday, July 20, 2012, at Dutch Haven Assisted Living in Maurertown, Virginia.
Mrs. McDonald was born June 27, 1924 in Shenandoah County, Virginia, daughter of the late William Alfred and Elizabeth Baker Hottinger.
She retired from Republic Management Systems as a Support Operations Supervisor at Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, Maryland.
She was a member of Walkers Chapel Church of the Brethren. She was a Shenandoah Memorial Hospital Volunteer, a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of Woodstock American Legion Post # 199 and Seniors Volunteer Program.
She was married June 29, 1944 to James Edward Allen who preceded her in death January 17, 1970 and predeceased by her second husband, Lee Roy McDonald, married in 2004, who died December 26, 2009.
She is survived by two sons, Wayne Richard Allen and his wife Mary Ann of Springfield and Gary Franklin Allen and his wife Jeannie Lynn of Luray; three grandchildren, Rachel Wilson, James Edward Allen and Matthew David Allen; and two great-grandchildren, Veronica Wilson and Jacob Matthew Allen.
Funeral services will be Sunday at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Cecil Haycock officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Jackson Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be John Buchanan, Ronald Buchanan, Donald Buchanan, John Funkhouser, Jason Funkhouser and L. J. Funkhouser.
The family will receive friends Saturday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
