Bobby J. Allen, age 76, of Longview, passed away at home with his loving family by his side Aug. 16, 2013. He was born Sept. 5, 1936, in the community of New Hope outside of Jacksonville. Bobby was raised in Tyler, then in 1966 he moved to Longview where he and his wife made their home and raised their children.
Mr. Allen worked for Joseph Schlitz Brewery Company, then the Schlitz Container. Later he became a successful businessman in the area for many years.
Mr. Allen was a faithful member of the Pine Tree Cumberland Presbyterian Church, the Pine Tree Masonic Lodge and the Sharon Temple Shrine. He loved spending time in the outdoors, hunting and camping with his family.
Mr. Allen is survived by his loving wife, Barbara Allen; they would have celebrated 60 years of marriage in September; his children, Mike Allen and his wife Susan, Cindy Bagley and her husband Milton, Kim Comfort and her husband Matt; four grandchildren, James Baron, of Houston, Elizabeth McFadden, of Alaska, Matthew Comfort, of Vail, Colo., and Meagan Evans, of Longview; seven great-grandchildren; and many cousins and friends. He will be sorely missed by all who knew him.
Friends are welcome to join the family for a time of visitation 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 18, 2013, at Rader Funeral Home, in Longview. Graveside services will be the next day, Monday, Aug. 19, 2013, at 11 a.m. at Tyler Memorial Park in Tyler.
