Mrs. Allen, Montague County Pioneer, Dies
Mrs. ELIZABETH J. ALLEN, 87, whose early life was associated with pioneer history in west and northwest Texas, died Saturday in a Fort Worth hospital. Mrs. Allen came to Texas in 1851 and settled near Lipan. She moved to the vicinity of Spanish Fort in Montague County in 1872. Her husband, a prominent physician, died in 1899. Three years later she moved to Nocona and resided with her daughter, Mrs. H. J. JUSTIN. She lived here until 1928 and moved to Fort Worth. Her residence was at 3304 Eighth Avenue with her daughter. She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. A. R. HAMILTON of route one and Mrs. H. C. DAVENPORT of Ringling, Okla., three sons, G. M. ALLEN of Nocona, JOE and BUCK ALLEN in Oklahoma and 15 grandchildren. The body was brought here for funeral services at the Methodist Church Sunday afternoon with interment in Nocona cemetery. Pallbearers were four grandsons, SAM, JOHN, EARL and VANE JUSTIN of Fort Worth, and I. E. CUMMINGS of Olathe, Kansas and H. S. LEMON of Nocona.
