|Death: ||Feb. 17, 2010|
Janie Roberts passed from this life Wednesday, Feb. 17, 2010, and has again united with her first love and husband, Wallace B. "Robbie" Roberts. They were married in 1942 during the height of World War II. While home on leave, Robbie met Janie and it was love at first sight. After a few more "home on leaves," they eloped and entered into a marriage that would last more than 30 years. They partnered together to run a successful business, Roberts Motor Company. Janie ran the office while Robbie ran the shop. Their union also produced a daughter, Jacquie Allyn, in 1950. After Robbie's death in 1974, Janie worked as assistant clerk in the City of Corsicana's Government Center. She fully enjoyed her role for the next 30 years.
Janie possessed a charmed enthusiasm for life which she generously shared with others. She loved deeply and loyally with a presence that was felt by all who met her throughout her life. Her tender, fun-loving nature will live on in those with whom she so graciously shared her gift for a life well lived.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robbie Roberts; and her parents, Martha Viola and John Marshall Allen.
She is survived by her daughter, Jacquie Roberts; sister, Sug Holloway and husband Lynn "Mooney" Holloway; niece, Maida Bryson; and nephews, Rickie Holloway and Paul Holloway.
Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Feb. 19, at Resthaven Memorial Park with the Rev. B.F. Risinger Jr. officiating.
