Marie J. Allen passed from this world into the loving arms of God on December 22, 2008 in Denver, Colorado. Marie was born April 3, 1932 at Rosebud, South Dakota to Aloysious Adams and Bernice Neiss. After the passing of her mother in 1945, she was raised by her grandparents in Parmalee, SD. Marie graduated valedictorian of her class at St. Francis mission. She attended nursing school briefly in Denver, CO, but her home-sickness returned her to South Dakota, where she worked for the Rosebud Sioux tribe. Marie has also been actively involved with St. Isaac Jogues since 1970. After 17 years of work at Howard Johnson's, now known as Ramkota, Marie retired. An extremely hard worker all of her life, one of her greatest accomplishments in life is, as a single parent, raising and providing for her seven children. Marie is survived by her uncle Calvin Neiss of Rapid City, her sister Lorraine Whiting and numerous cousins, all of Rosebud, SD, her remaining six children; Shirley Shultz, Walter Quick Bear Jr., both of Rapid City. Richard Quick Bear, of Denver, CO; Wanda Quick Bear of Rapid City, Tony Quick Bear of Easley, SC, and Jackie Branch, of Rapid City, her 21 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother John Adams, and her son, George Allen Jr. Marie was very much loved by her family as well as friends and acquaintances of all ages, who love her and will miss her until we all meet again.

A one night Wake Service with Rosary will begin at 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 28, at the Mother Butler Center. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, December 29, at the Mother Butler Center with Father Dave Matzko, S.J. as celebrant. Interment will be following at Mt. Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Rapid City.
