She was born March 20, 1917 in Marshfield (now Coos Bay). Daughter of Alexander Petersen and Katherine Maas. She graduated from high school in Cathlamet, Washington. She also attended Chemeketa Community College in Salem, Oregon where she studied to be a licensed practical nurse, and Linn Benton Community College in Albany, Oregon where she continued her nurses' training. She attended Multnomah School of the Bible in Portland, Oregon for one-and-a-half years as well.
Eleanor worked for the Coos County Tax Department in Coquille. She moved to the Lebanon-area in the 1940s, and worked for the Lebanon Telephone Company for several years. She retired from Lebanon Community Hospital after working as a licensed practical nurse for several years.
She was married to Frank Brannan on Aug. 19, 1945. They later divorced. She married Lee Allen on Dec. 13, 1963 He preceded her in death on March 6, 1997.
