Coughing Starts, Youth Suffocates
KENTON - A Kenton boy suffocated to death at this city's swimming pool Tuesday afternoon. He was not in the water when death occurred.
Hardin County Coroner Dr. Glenn Van Atta ruled that Harvey R. Allen, 14, died when mucus lodged in his lungs.
A lifeguard's efforts to revive the youth failed. The boy was dead on arrival at Hardin Memorial Hospital.
The victim was seized with sudden coughing and was unable to get his breath, witnesses told authorities.
Harvey was born April 6, 1952, in this city, the son of Roger and Marilyn Allen. They survive with seven other children, Frank, Roger Jr., Cindy, Shirley, Hope, Jessie and Marilyn; maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Theodore Newland, Alger, and paternal grandfather, Haden Allen, Tulsa, Okla.
Schindewolf Memorial Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements, which are incomplete.
