FRANCES BERNICE ALLEN
Frances Bernice Allen, daughter of Thomas and Floy Allen was born at Derby, Iowa, April 6, 1918, and passed away in Julesburg, Colorado, Aug. 16, 1936, aged 18 years, 4 months and 10 days.
In 1927, Frances went with her parents to Woodburn, Iowa, where they made their home. Here she attended school and graduated from high school on May 14, 1936. She had a very sweet, happy disposition and was always thoughtful of others. She made many friends both in school and wherever she went.
When Frances was thirteen she accepted Christ as her Savior and united with the Church of Christ in Woodburn.
She was preceded in death by her sister, Ruth Darlene, who died in infancy, and her father, who passed away April 5, 1935.
Those who will miss Frances are her mother and brother, Richard, of Woodburn, her grandmother, Mrs. Anna M. Sowder, of Derby, Ia., her uncles and aunts, other relatives and many friends.
Funeral services were held at the Church of Christ in Woodburn, Ia., Thursday afternoon, Aug. 20, at 2 o'clock. Rev. Roy B. Weakland, pastor of the Church of Christ at Lake City, Iowa, officiated. Burial was in the Derby cemetery.
Those who acted as pall bearers were six of her intimate friends, Wilma Mackey, Irene Wright, Lorene Duree, Georgia Westbrook, Lucille Terhune and Hope Stedwell. The music was furnished by a double mixed quartette, composed of Mrs. Horace Oliver, Margaret Crist, Mrs. Lawrence Marquis, Mrs. John R. Evans, Dr. M. H. McCanon, Paul Crist, Horace Oliver and Louise Crist, accompanied by June Mackey at the piano.
