MRS. CORA ALLEN
Cora King Allen, daughter of Azro and Mary King, was born in Queen City, Mo., Feb. 17, 1878, and departed from this life March 20, 1955, at the age of 77 years, 1 month and 2 days.
On Dec. 4, 1902, she was united in marriage to Leroy Allen. To this union were born Lynn Allen of Chariton; Genevieve Allen of Los Angeles, Calif.; and Mrs. Juanita Brown of Promise City, Iowa.
Preceding her in death were her father and mother, two brothers, Howard and Lawrence, and two sisters, Clara Pickerel and Jennie McGee. She is survived by the sorrowing husband and children: five grandchildren, Shirley and Stanley Brown of Promise City, Alan Brown at Camp Chaffee, Ark., Robert Brown and wife Wanda of Promise City, and Mrs. Pat Hawke and husband Don of Pasadena, Calif. There are also surviving one sister, Mrs. Grace Foulks of Ottawa, Kans.; one brother-in-law, Tom McGee of Burlington, Kans.; a sister-in-law, Mrs. Edith King of West Linn, Ore., and many other relatives.
Early in life she accepted Christ as her Saviour and placed her membership in the Russell Baptist Church. Most of her life was spent in Lucas County and for many years the home was located in the vicinity of Russell. During those years she made many friends in the community who will sincerely mourn her passing and who will sympathize deeply with the family in this time of sorrow.
Funeral services were held at the Woodman Funeral Home Tuesday, March 22, at 2 p.m., conducted by the Rev. A. E. Beals, assisted by the Rev. Everett Rhodes. Interment was in the Russell Cemetery.
