Barbara J. Allen, age 73, of Centerville, Iowa, died Wednesday, September 21, 2005, at Golden Age Care Center in Centerville, Iowa. She was born the daughter of the late Otha Fenton, Sr. and the late Myrtle(Dochterman)Fenton on December 22, 1931 in Udell, Iowa. She graduated from Moravia High School in 1949.
On January 11, 1950, she was united in marriage to Mark Allen in Centerville, Iowa. She was employed at McGraw Edison in Centerville, Iowa and Chamberlin Manufacturing in Albia, Iowa. She was also a homemaker.
Barbara was preceded in death by: her parents; brothers Otha Fenton, Jr., Lyle Fenton, and Paul Fenton.
She is survived by: her husband, Mark Allen, of Centerville, Iowa; sons David Allen and his wife, Jodi, of Des Moines, Iowa and Brian Allen and his wife, Crystal, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; sisters Lela Ponsetto of Centerville, Iowa; Beverly McFall and her husband, Jerry, of Montrose, Iowa; and Colleen Bryant of Niceville, Florida; and two grandchildren, Desiree Allen and Ben Allen.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 23, 2005 at 10:30 am at the Schmidt Family Funeral Home in Centerville, Iowa with Rev. Joan White officiating. Burial will follow at the Hillcrest Cemetery in Moravia, Iowa. Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 22, 2005 from 1 till 8 pm at the Schmidt Family Funeral Home in Centerville, Iowa with the family present from 6 till 8 pm at the funeral home.
Memorials have been established to the Golden Age Care Center Activity Fund.
