On the same stone with Jess Allen 1885-1953
Blanche Pugh daughter of Samuel and Decindia Pugh, was born near Exline, Iowa, March 19, 1885. She was a lifelong resident of the Exline community, where she won a host of friends through out the years. Blanche was a long time and quite active member of the Exline Christian Church, to which she remained faithful as long as health permitted. She had the distinction of being the first bride to be married in the present Christian Church, February 18, 1912, she was united in marriage to Jess Allen, Beginning a beautiful and constant companionship which lasted over a period of 39 years. The untiring devotion given her by her husband during her lingering illness, is to be highly commended.
On Tuesday morning, March 27, 1951 at 9:30 am at her home in Exline, she quietly departed from, this life at the age of 66 years and 8 days, to enter into life eternal, given only to those redeemed of God.
She leaves to mourn her passing, her devoted husband, Jess Allen, and three brothers, Van Pugh, Centerville, Sanford Pugh, Des Moines and David Pugh, of Rockford, Illinois. She was preceded in death by her parents, and two sisters, Mrs. Laura Elledge, and Mrs. Lucy Monroe.
Funeral services were held Friday, March 30 from the Christian Church in Exline with Rev. Lyle Armstrong officiating. Burial was in the Exline Cemetery. Mrs. Lazelle Musgrove sang two comforting hymns, "Good Night and Good Morning," and "No Night There," accompanied by Miss Nora Bratchi at the piano. Pallbearers were nephews Thurman Pugh, Herman Elledge, Kendall Monroe, Jack Middleton, and Glen and Lester Morrow.
