Mr. David Marshall "Jack" Allen, Jr., age 71, of 2332 Steadman Rd., Tallapoosa, GA, passed away April 22, 2008. Mr. Allen was born September 9, 1936, in Tallapoosa, to the late David M. and Mattie Newman Allen, Sr. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Louie Allen.
Mr. Allen was a truck driver and service technician with Blossman Gas Company and a member of Steadman Baptist Church. He was a dedicated Baptist deacon since 1965.
Mr. Allen is survived by his loving wife of 49 years this June, Mrs. Elizabeth Golden Allen; sons and daughters-in-law, David R. and Anna Allen and Michael J. and Phyllis Allen, all of Tallapoosa; 10 grandchildren, Jonathan Allen, Kristen Allen, Marshall Allen, Audrey Allen, Izaak Allen, Bradley Reece, T. J. Reece, Cody Reece, Michael "Mikey" Allen and Ariel Allen; great-granddaughter, Miley Reece; sister and brother in law, Vivian and Lloyd Smith, of Tallapoosa; brother and sister in law, Wayne "Dock" and Pauline Allen, of Dallas; and sister in law, Irene Allen Smith, of Tallapoosa.
Funeral services for Jack Allen will be held Friday, April 25, 2008, at 3:00 PM from Steadman Baptist Church with Rev. C. L. Powers, Rev. Toby Powers, Rev. Randy Robinson, Rev. Ricky Caldwell and Rev. Randall Moore officiating. He will lie in state at the church from 2:00-3:00 PM. Music will be provided by June Walker, Katie Williams, Ariel Allen, Sandra Walker, Lori Robinson, Randall Moore and the Steadman Church Choir. Pallbearers serving will be Jonathan Allen, Bradley Reece, T. J. Reece, Cody Reece, Mikey Allen, Vaughn Gable, Travis Gable, Justin Allen, Wil Rakestraw and Allen Rakestraw. Interment will follow in Steadman Church Cemetery.
