BRAMWELL-Donald E. Allen, 76, of P.O. Box 123, Bramwell died on Friday, April 18 1997, at Bluefield Regional Medical Center in Bluefield.
Born on June 20, 1920 in Nelson County, Va. he was the son of the late Ulysses Simpson (Grant) and Rhoda Priscilla Reed Allen. He had been a resident of Bramwell most of his life and was a former constable of Mercer County and was retired from Smith Transfer. He was a member of the River Side Baptist Church of Bramwell, a member of the Green Valley Kiwanis Club and a former member of the Bramwell Kiwanis Club for years. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and a veteran of WWII serving with the U.S. Army. He was also a member of local 175, Teamsters Union. He was preceded in death by eight brothers; Vivian Ray, George, Sam, Arthur, Tom, Frank, Forrest and Charles Edwin and five sisters, Lillian, Maggie Mae, Pearl, Ethel, and Bea. He was the last surviving member of his family.
Survivors are his wife Ennice Hill Allen of Bramwell; daughters, Judie Marcum-Holley and husband John of Bramwell and Rebecca Allen of Bramwell.; grandsons, Allen Marcum of new Bedford, Ma. and Larry Marcum of West Palm Beach, Fl.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday at 2:30 p.m. at the Cravens-Shires Funeral Home Chapel in Bluewell with the Rev. Jim Richardson officiating.
Burial will follow in Woodlawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Bluewell.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday from 6 to 9 p.m.
Pallbearers will be: Roger Stroupe, Gene Bailey, Michael Eller, Merv Anderson, Darrell, David and Doug Cook.
