Albert E. "Al" Allen passed away on July 31,2011 at Prosser Memorial Hospital. Albert was born in Valentine, Nebraska on January 6, 1920 to James & Irene Allen.
He married Oma Jean Markland on June 8, 1981 in Wichita, Kansas. He was inducted into the Army in the First Calvary during WW ll from 1941 to 1945. Albert moved to Washington State in 1947. He lived in Granger for 14 years as a farmer and moved to Prosser in 1961, where he farmed for 15 years.
He spent most of his time at the Prosser Senior Center playing pinochle, pool and bingo. He enjoyed jigsaw puzzles and reading westerns, especially Louis L'Amour. He also belonged to the Prosser VFW. Everybody loved his pies, especially his pecan pie, and his peanut brittle.
Albert is survived by his daughter, Doris K. Monson (Charles) of Spokane, WA. Grandchildren Michele Monson of Spokane and Marijka (Ken)Ross of Chelan, WA. Great grandchildren, Justin and Charles Monson and Max, Madison and Mason Ross. He is also survived by one sister, Harriett Nelson of Gresham, OR., and numerous nieces & nephews.
His wife Jean, two sisters and four brothers preceded him in death. The family would like to thank the staff and Dr. Watson at the Prosser Memorial Hospital.
In leiu of flowers the family has requested that memorial contributions be made to the Prosser Senior Center, 1231 Dudley Ave., Prosser, WA 99350.
