Doyle Hampton "Blackie" Allen
July 10, 1922 - Aug 21, 1997

Doyle Hampton Allen, 75, of Kerens died Aug. 21 at Columbia Navarro Regional Hospital.

Services will be held today at 2 p.m. at the First Baptist Church with Dr. Royce Measures and Rev. Wes Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in the Kerens City Cemetery.

Pallbearers are Caleb Allen, Dickie Allen, Naaman Allen, Tommy Darby, Joe David Darby, Andy Darby and Brian Dillon Allen.

Honorary pallbearers are members of the Texas 36th Division and the local domino club.

Mr. Allen was born July 10, 1922 in Prairieville.

He was a World War II veteran, 1st Sergeant of the Texas 36th Division Battery B 133 Field Artillery Battalion. Mr. Allen's tour of duty included North Africa and European campaigns.

He was a farmer and rancher. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Kerens.

Mr. Allen is survived by his wife, Queena Allen of Kerens; three sons, Gregory Allen of Kerens, Jackie Allen of Crandall and Larry Allen of Ft. Worth; daughter-in-law, Carol Allen of Kerens; 8 grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.
