MCLEAN — Wanda Rae Allen Simpson, 82, of McLean died Sunday, July 8, 2012.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in First Baptist Church in McLean with the Rev. Norman Rushing and the Rev. Thacker Haynes officiating. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery in McLean. Arrangements are by Robertson Funeral Directors of McLean.
Mrs. Simpson was born Aug. 29, 1929, in Hedley to Dewey L. and Eula Grigsby Allen. She married W.C. "Flea" Simpson on Dec. 7, 1947, in Pampa.
Mrs. Simpson had lived in Muleshoe before moving to McLean 60 years ago. Most will remember her as the owner of Simpson Grocery in McLean. After she and Flea sold the grocery store, Mrs. Simpson kept busy working several other jobs. She had worked as a florist, at a bank and at the Marie Foundation. Mrs. Simpson loved to grow roses and enjoyed sewing.
She was a member of First Baptist Church in McLean.
She was preceded in death by her parents; an infant brother, Bobby Allen; and two sisters, Peggy Webb and Helen "Fern" Hotta.
Survivors include her husband; two sons, Melvin Ray Simpson and wife Demedra of Booker and Stanley E. Simpson of Plano; a sister, Beth Hughes of Jacksonville; eight grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
The family suggests memorials be to First Baptist Church, 206 W. First St., Mclean, TX 79057.
