Deceased was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Gabriel Allen, and was born at Phillipsport, Sept. 13, 1879. At the age of ten years death claimed his father, leaving the mother with three sons, Warren [Orren], Arthur, and Frank. Although Arthur was always delicate his short life was very bright, as his loving disposition and affectionate ways made him a favorite with everyone. During his illness of 23 days he was never heard to complain although his suffering was intense. The sympathy of the community is extended to his many friends who mourn his loss, but they have the blessed assurance that he has only gone on before; and although it looks hard to us that one so young, so much loved and with such bright anticipations in life should be taken, yet God called him and he was willing to go. The funeral was held in the M. E. Church at Phillipsport, Thursday, Sept. 27. The bearers were selected by himself and were Messrs. Thomas and William Sarine, Andrew and Geo Libolt and Chas. and Preson Cudney. The casket was ladened with beautiful flowers, amonth which were a bunch of yellow roses, given by Mary Merritt; white and pink roses from Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Allen, a bunch each of pink and white carnations by the Misses Lane and Ida Merritt; chrysanthemums from Mr. and Mrs. Fred Allen, and other floral gifts too numerous to mention. The remains were laid in the cemetery at Phillipsport.
