Mrs. Allen, mother of Mrs. Kate Ross and Mrs. Ida Ross of this town [Canadice], died at the home of Mrs. Ida Ross on Sept. 21. She was born in Orange county in 1828 and moved to Big Flats with her parents when a girl. Her husband was in the army and she kept her large family together during his absence. His death occurred many years ago. She had lived in this town for several years and was much respected for her upright Christian character. She leaves four daughters and two sons, two brothers and a large circle of friends. The funeral was held here on Friday and the remains were taken to her home in Corning where services were held Saturday.
