Darrell was born in Chico, California, the youngest in a family with six children and grew up in Pacific Grove in the Monterey Bay Area. Early on it was clear that he was the athletic one in the family, always wanting to play harder and go faster. Darrell found his real love in skateboarding and bicycle racing. As a teen and young adult, he spent as much time as he could practicing with those world class competitors where ever he lived. He was also an avid baseball player and Broncos football fan.
Darrell's favorite place in the world was Hawaii and he went there every chance he could. He said that his best days were the ones with the wind in his face, riding in the sun. Darrell is survived by his brother Jim Bohon and sisters Jodie Finato and Margie Lawther. Published in Chico Enterprise-Record on June 9, 2013.
