FARMINGTON - David H. Allen Sr., 82, longtime Livermore Falls businessman, died Monday afternoon, Dec. 19, at Franklin Memorial Hospital in Farmington, following a lingering illness.
He was born April 7, 1929, in Rumford, the son of Stuart and Frances (McLeod) Allen.
He was a 1946 graduate of Mexico High School. Dave joined the U.S. Navy, serving from 1946 to 1948 during World War II. When he returned from the military, he continued his education in radio and television in Boston and also participated in the semipro football league in Mexico, Maine. On Feb. 12, 1949, he married Birdena "Dena" Bourdeau. They were married for 60 years before she passed away Aug. 23, 2009. They lived in Livermore Falls, where they owned and operated Allen's TV for more than 50 years. He was a life member of the AMVETS Post No. 33 in Jay and the Kiwanis Club in Livermore Falls.
He is survived by his three sons, David H. Allen Jr., and his wife, Teri, of Readfield, and their children, Heidi, David, Duncan, Emily and Chloe, Steve Allen of Livermore Falls and his children, Nissa and Brandon, and Richard Allen and his wife, Pam, of Mexico, and their children, Jessica, Lucas and Devon; seven great-grandchildren, Alex, Noah, Elijah, Elana, Izraelle, Amara and Madeline; and his brother, Donald Allen, of Lincoln. He was predeceased by his brother, Robert Allen; and his sister, Kathleen Gilbert.
Interment will be in Maine Veterans' Memorial Cemetery, 163 Mount Vernon Ave., Augusta. (Kennebec Journal 12/22/2011)
