From Heart Attack
Fred F. Allen, 37, World War II Navy veteran of Gibsland, died in a Shreveport sanitarium early last Thursday morning following a heart attack.
Allen served in the armed forces one year and had been in ell health since his discharge three years ago.
Survivors are his wife, the former Miss Lucretia Willis; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. C.A. Allen, Gibsland; two sisters, Mrs. Elmer Welch of Ft. Worth, and Miss Fay Allen, Gibsland; two brothers, Albert Allen, Homer, and Robert G. Francis, of Gibsland.
Funeral services were held at the Gibsland Baptist church Friday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Roy Collum, assisted by Rev. Loy E. Baird, officiating. Funeral arrangements were under the direction of Conger funeral home of Arcadia, and interment was had in the Gibsland cemetery.
Pallbearers were F.A. Coleman, C.A. Stinnett, Jack Storey, F.F. Jameson, Louis Pullig and Thomas Hardeman.
Mr. Allen had been in ill health for some time, but was at his work with the Louisiana Power & Light Company when stricken with the heart attack. He was a member of the Gibsland Baptist Church.
