MEADE COUNTY MESSENGER OBITUARY - 1997
Mr. Alva E. "Buddy" Allen, 78, Brandenburg, died Saturday, Jan. 11, 1997 at his residence. He was born in Meade County on Apr. 6, 1918. He was the son of the late Paul Warren Allen and Mary Eleanor Arnold Allen. He was a retired farmer and state highway department worker. He is survived by 3 children, Sharon Lily, Nashville, TN, Roger Allen, Brandenburg, Ricky Allen, Phoenix, AZ; 8 sisters, Marie Hardesty, Rena Lou Humphrey, both of Battletown, Loretta Jupin, Irene Hockman, Ruth Humphrey, Bonnie Wardrip, Patsy Wine, Anna Rita Benham, all of Brandenburg; 4 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by 2 sisters and 4 brothers. Prayers were recited by Father Jack Barker at 7 p.m., Monday, Jan. 13 from the Chapel of Jenkins Funeral Home. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 14 from the St. John the Apostle Catholic Church with the Father Jack Barker officiating. Burial was in the St. Mary Magdalen Cemetery in Payneville directed by Jenkins Funeral Home. Pallbearers were Bobby Allen, Gary Allen, Greg Allen, Kenny Curl, Jr, Dan Wardrip, and Mike Brown.
