Doris (Thompson) Allen, a life-long Quincy resident, passed away December 13, 2010 at Marina Bay Skilled Nursing & Rehabilitation Center following a period of declining health. She was 86, and the beloved wife of the late Charles B. Allen Sr., who died May 20, 1982. Sadly, she was also preceded in death by her dear son, Charles Jr., on January 31, 2002. An active, life-long member of Bethany Congregational Church, Mrs. Allen served on various committees over the years. She also maintained an active lifestyle, enjoying outdoor sports into her 50s. In her younger years, she and her family especially enjoyed summers waterskiing, and winters snowmobiling. One of Doriss most enjoyable activities, however, was travelling | something she did quite a bit of in her golden years. She is survived by her twin sister, Dorothy Mersereau and husband Herman of Braintree, 2 Grandchildren; Paul M. Allen of Germany and Beth A. Allen of Chillicothe, OH, as well as 3 Great Grandchildren; Jaden Carmona and twins Justin and Jordan Carmona. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends, including long-time travelling companion Jean Ann Phinney of Quincy. She was the sister of the late Arthur and Lloyd Thompson. Her funeral, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be held this Friday, December 17 at 11 a.m. at the Hamel, Wickens & Troupe Funeral Home, 26 Adams St. Quincy Center, with the Rev. William C. Harding, Pastor of Bethany Congregational Church, officiating. Visiting Hours Thursday from 5 - 8 p.m. Interment to follow at Blue Hill Cemetery, Braintree.
