Essie Royter Allen passed away peacefully on the morning of September 9, 2012.

Essie was born January 1, 1921 to Jennie Vene Stoddard and Charles Albert Royter in Downey, Idaho. Essie was the ninth of twelve children and the sixth daughter.

She married William C. Allen December 15, 1941 later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple.

For the first four years of their marriage she lived in Pocatello, Idaho with their son Michael until Bill's return from World War II.

Bill and Essie had thirteen children, eight boys and five girls; Michael, Bruce, Carol, Shawn, Richard, Connie, Elizabeth, Peter, Barry, Brett, Roberta, Jennifer and Phillip.

They lived in Salt Lake City and later moved to West Valley City prior to the birth of their seventh child.

Essie worked for many years at Pioneer Valley Hospital as a nurse's aid. She took care of Barry, their son that suffered from schizophrenia, for the last twenty-seven years following Bill's death.

Due to declining health she moved into Sandy Health and Rehab where she lived for the last two years of her life.

Essie is a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and has served in many callings. She served as a primary teacher, young women's instructor and den mother. She loved the gospel of Jesus Christ.

She is preceded in death by her husband Bill, sons Michael, Phillip, Barry, daughter Jennifer, brothers Charley (Ike), Dean, Roy, George, Monte, Ted and sisters Nona, Wanda, Florence and Dorothy.

Survived by her sister Jennie Jensen, sons Bruce Allen, Shawn (CJ) Allen, Richard (Lydia) Allen, Peter (Sher) Allen, Brett Allen, daughters Carol (Steve)Fisher, Connie Brewer, Elizabeth (Mike) Raleigh, Roberta Kirk and grandchildren Lance, Tracy, Rori, Ali, Steven, Janette, Janean, Jerry, Juan, Jon, Dustin, Shawn, Craig, A.J., Courtney, Ally, James, Jessie, Alexis, four great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
