Our beloved wife, mother and grandmother, Betty Jane Allen, died Thursday, Nov. 25, 2010, in Brigham City, Utah.
She was born in Elko, Nevada on April 13, 1930, to Alma Dean and Mae Painter Kendall. She was reared in Elko, where she attended elementary school and graduated from Elko County High School in 1948.
Betty Jane married Ferrin L. Allen on Sept. 25, 1950, in the Logan LDS Temple. She dedicated her life to making a home that was pleasant and comfortable for her family, especially a place where her children knew they could bring their friends. She also dedicated her life early to being a good Latter-day Saint.
She was always an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She filled many leadership positions in the youth program of the church in Elko. These responsibilities helped prepare her for callings she had in both ward and stake levels in junior Sunday School, Primary and Relief Society. She was always one who ensured that all assignments were organized and completed properly and for the benefit of the children or sisters that she worked with. She was always a dedicated visiting teacher in the Relief Society.
During the time that her children were growing up she was always there to ensure they met the commitments they had made to help and serve others. Her support for her children and her husband in their respective church callings were a signature element of her life.
She was the mother of four children: Kendall Lowe (Karin), Michael Lynn (Karen) Gary Dean (Sue), Lisa Ann (Tom) Braegger. She is survived by her husband, her children, 12 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren who she loved more than anything in life.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, LaMar Kendall, and one sister, Maxine Oldham.
Family request donations to be made to the Perpetual Education Fund or the General Missionary Fund to honor Betty Jane.
The family would like to thank Pioneer Care Center for their loving care of their wife and mother. Also to the 12th LDS Ward High Priests for providing transportation and support for their father.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, Nov. 30, 2010 at 11 a.m. at Brigham City 12th LDS Ward, 320 E. 600 North. Family will greet friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday at Gillies Funeral Chapel, 634 E. 200 South, Brigham City and from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday morning at the church. Interment will be in the Brigham City Cemetery.
