Ruth Smith Allen, 79, of LaGrange, passed away Friday, January 17, 2014 at her residence. Ruth was born in LaFayette, AL on March 13, 1934, the loving daughter of Madison and Lois Irene (Davis) Smith. She was united in marriage to Horace Emory Allen, he preceded her in death in 2000. She was then united in marriage to Jake Jarrell on May 14, 2009 and he preceded her in death on August 11, 2009. Ruth worked at Playtex, Allens Garage, Biscuit Shoppe, Monograms by Ruth and Reflections Beauty Shop.
She is survived by brothers: James Ralph Smith of Valley, AL and Roy Lee Smith of Pensacola, FL; she leaves to cherish her memory, her sister and brother-in-law: Becky (Thermon) Parmer of LaGrange and numerous nieces, nephews and many special friends.
Mrs. Allen was preceded in death by her parents, husband Emory, husband Jake, her special son: Michael Emory Allen; brothers: John Allen Smith, Wesley Smith, Carl Durrell Smith and sister: Mable Abercrombie.
The family will receive friends Monday, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Hunter-Allen-Myhand Funeral Home. Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, at Teaver Road Baptist Church with Rev Danny Geter and Rev Donnie Benefield officiating. Burial will follow at Restlawn Cemetery in LaGrange.
Memorials may be made to West Georgia Hospice or Teaver Road Baptist Church.
