Farmer Is Found Dead Near Warren
Joseph E. Allen, 70, Is Stricken By Cerebral Apoplexy While Working On Farm
Joseph E. Allen, 70, was found dead about 6 p.m. Wednesday at the rear of his farm, one mile south and two miles west of Warren, by a neighbor, Paul Lawrence. Search had been instituted for him after his daughter became worried by his absence. Death was attributed to cerebral apoplexy.
Mr. Allen, who resided on state road 218, had been ailing for a year but was considered in his usual health when he had gone out on the farm to repair a fence in the afternoon.
Born March 22, 1871 in Huntington county, he was the son of Curtis and Susanne Beck Allen. His marriage was to Mary Amanda Rinehart on October 7, 1888. She died May 14, 1936.
Surviving are four children, Earl Russell, Edith Marie, and Cleatus Merlin Allen, all of Warren, and Kara Everett Allen, Marion, 13 grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
Mr. Allen was a member of the Jefferson Center Methodist church where funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. (CDT) Saturday with the Rev. J. O. Campbell of Marion and the Rev. C. H. Slusher of Warren officiating. Burial will be in the Lancaster cemetery.
