ALLEN, JR., Harry Stanley "Stan"Passed away Saturday, March 29, 2008 of cancer. He was preceded in death by his parents, H. Stanley Allen, Sr. and Lutie Chancellor Allen. Survived by his wife, Betty Sue Allen; daughter, Christy Allen; sons, H. Stanley "Trey" Allen III and Paul Allen; granddaughter, Lilli Margaret Allen; brother, Chance Allen (Liz Anne); nieces, Sara Kate Allen and Rachel Lyles (Matt); nephew, Chance Allen, Jr. Mr. Allen was a member of Woodmont Hills Church of Christ. He was a graduate of David Lipscomb University and the Nashville School of Law. In 1965, Stan began his legal practice in Nashville with Ben and Wilson West and later formed the law firm of Allen & Parker. In his professional career, he served financially strapped clients by charging reduced fees or none at all. In his personal life, he generously gave of his time as a coach in YMCA Youth Sports, touching the lives of many young athletes, and as a volunteer with the American Red Cross. Throughout much of his life, Stan was interested in amateur and professional boxing. As a welterweight, he won the 1960 Southern championship of the Golden Gloves. That same year, he advanced to the Western National quarter-finals of the Golden Gloves tournament held in Chicago. He later served as business manager for several professional boxers from the Nashville area. Stan richly deserved the unanimous accolade that all friends and acquaintances gave him...."he was a good guy." He will be remembered among the legal community as a lawyer who was honorable, fair, courageous and compassionate.
