Born in Omaha, NE to Frank Arthur & Marie (Carveth) Allen; brother of Barbara Nell (Allen) Blunk; Graduate of US Naval Academy Annapolis, MD
1ST LT U.S. AIR FORCE SA US NAVY KOREA

Art was active in most things musical for as long as I knew him. Prior to entering the ministry himself, he was a very active participant in the choir of First Presbyterian Church. He performed in the chorus for the Houston Symphony group at that time as well. He had little access to choral groups during his service to the Marfa Presbyterian Church and then Drake Memorial Church in Orange. Ten years prior to his death he discovered the Masterwork's Choir, went to tryouts and was accepted by them, receiving his ten-year pin in 2002. His interest in the plight of the seafarer's coming into the Port of Houston was natural, since he was a graduate of Annapolis. He and his influence to so many are sorely missed.
