Karl A. Allen Funeral Services Held Monday.

Karl Anthon Allen, 61, of Vernal died of a stroke Friday in the Uintah County Hospital. Funeral services were held Monday at 11 a.m. in the Vernal Fifth LDS Ward Chapel.

Mr. Allen was born April 5, 1907 in Vernal to Orlin Daniel and Eleanor Merkley Allen. He married Cleora Orr February 5, 1944 at Mt. Emmons.

He was a member of the LDS Church and was a trucker.

Survivors are his widow; sons, James Anthon, Randy, Ralph, all of Vernal; grandchild; brothers and sisters, Laurence, Viola Caldwell, Forence, Massey, Annie Roberts, all of Vernal; Leonard, Auburn, California; Edith Bodily, Boise, Idaho; Audrey Hall, San Jose, California.

The services were conducted by Bishop Bryce Caldwell. Family prayer was by Leslie J. Orr, father-in-law. Bishop Niles Haslem gave the opening prayer.

Glade and Elizabeth Sowards sang "Silver Haired Daddy of Mine" and Going Home," accompanied by Eloise Adams. LuRae Caldwell and Virginia Ewell sang, "In The Garden."

Speakers were Hugh Colton and Harvey McKee. Alvin Weeks gave the benediction.

The grave was dedicated by Morgan Merkley. Burial was in the Maeser Fairview Cemetery.

Pallbearers were cousins, Butch Hall, Dan and Ken Oaks, George Bills, Allen Bennion and June Merkley.

Attending from out of town were the Leonard Allen family of Auburn, California; Mr. and Mrs. Keith (Edith) Bodily and family, Boise, Idaho; Audrey Hall, San Jose, California; The Leslie Orrs, the Art Cases, the Lee Powells and the Ken Cluffs, all of Salt Lake City; the LaMar Bisels, Altamont and the Birch Bennions, Payette, Idaho.
