Guy Elroy Allee was born on Sunday; January 4, 1920 in Chelsea; Tama County, Iowa. He was the son of Guy Edward and Nelle (Boyer) Allee. On Friday; January 24, 1941, he married Helen Marie Hudson in Des Moines; Polk County, Iowa. Mr. Allee had worked at B.F. Goodrich, Cudahy Packing Co., Chittenden & Eastman, Atlantic Richfield, and Lamont, Ltd., from where he had retired as Vice President and Treasurer. He was a graduate of Chelsea High School and the American Institute of Business in Des Moines, Iowa. After Pearl Harbor, he enlisted in the U.S. Army and received a Bronze Star. For 10 years after World War II, he was in the Army Reserves with the rank of Major. He had lived in Burlington for 50 years before moving to Ames in 2005. He was of the Methodist faith. He enjoyed candlemaking, crossword and jigsaw puzzles, and had mountian hiked on five continents. Guy Elroy Allee, age 88, of Ames; Story County, Iowa formerly of Burlington; Des Moines County, Iowa passed away at 11:15 p.m. on Tuesday; July 15, 2008, at the Israel Family Hospice House in Ames, Iowa. Left to mourn his passing are: His wife: Helen. His one daughter: Betty (Michael) Bowman of Ames, Iowa. His one granddaughter: Kimberly (Greg) Larson of Marion; Marshall County, Iowa. His one grandson: Brian (Colleen) Bowman of Oswego; Kendall County, Illinois. His five great-grandchildren: Alyssa and Logan Larson, and Abigail, Brianna, and Hayden Bowman. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother: Robert Allee, one great-grandson, Grady Larson and one nephew. May they rest in peace. Visitation will be from: 9:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. with the family to receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. on Saturday; July 19, 2008 at the funeral home. Funeral services will begin at: 2:00 p.m. on Saturday; July 19, 2008 at the chapel of the funeral home with Reverend Trevor Davis officiating. Committal and Interment will be at 1:30 p.m. on Sunday; July 20, 2008 at the Rector Cemetery in rural Chelsea, Iowa with the Reverend Charles Johnson officiating. A memorial in Mr. Allee's name has been established for Collegiate United Methodist Church / Wesley Foundation in Ames, Iowa. For condolences, please visit the funeral home's website.
