Ethel Annie Allardyce passed away in Calgary on Wednesday, November 29, 2006 at the age of 86 years. She is survived by brother Fred (Elsa) Houghton of Castlegar, B.C., Kathleen (Bill) Warren of Roseburg, Oregon, Terry, Glen (Heather), Wayne (Trish), Brent (Maureen) all of Calgary; grandchildren, Malcolm, Brittany, Jessie and Michael. She was predeceased by her husband Jack and brother Joseph Levisohn.
Ethel was born in Vermilion, Alberta in 1920, orphaned at age ten and raised in the Bowden area until attending college in Calgary. She worked for the Air Force during and after World War II, where she met Jack. They settled in Parkdale where Ethel remained for the rest of her life. Ethel was an active member of the community where she had many friends. She was a member of the Parkdale Nifty Fifties for many years and was an avid bridge player, an activity that she enjoyed throughout her life. Ethel was known throughout the neighborhood for her generous nature. Everyone was welcome at the Allardyce house and the door at 719 was always open. Thank you to the Nurses, staff and Doctors at the Foothills Hospital Special Services Unit 46. Funeral Service held at Parkdale United Church, Calgary on Tuesday, December 5, 2006.
