|Death: ||Jul. 3, 1949|
New York, USA
Born in Russia (now Poland), Annie was the daughter of Abraham Suckman and his wife, name unknown at this time. She came to the US on November 2, 1904 with her daughter Ester, son Sender (Samuel), sister-in-law Reisel and brother-in-law Moische. They were joining her husband Alter (Isaac) Alkes in Brooklyn. The Suckman family and many Alkes in laws settled in Glens Falls, NY but Alter and Chana stayed in NYC. She is buried here with her husband and mother in law, Dora, who died shortly after she did. Family tell about the great care she provided to her mother in law, who lived well into her 90's and many think over 100 years old.
Her memorial was originally written as Annie Alkus and this is how she appears in the cemetery locator. I do not know whether this is a mistake or is actually how her headstone was written.
She had five known children: Sender (Samuel), Esther Alkes, Yetta Zelig, and twins Mack and Mollie. I have yet to track down all of their burial locations but am working on it.
