John was the son of John Herman "Henry" Aling and Elsie Watters. He worked as a psychiatric aide at Alton State Hospital for 17 years.
At the time of his death at Alton Memorial Hospital, John was 53 years, 5 months and 18 days old. He was survived by his mother; and 2 sisters, Angelus Pearson of Tucson, Arizona, and Martha Aling of Hardin.
John was preceded in death by his father, Henry, who died in 1945; and a sister, Elizabeth, who died in infancy.
Visitation was held after 2 p.m. on 10 Mar 1966 at the C. C. Hanks Funeral Home in Hardin. A Requiem Mass was conducted at 9 a.m. the following morning at St. Norbert's Catholic Church in Hardin. John was buried next to his father in the church cemetery.
John's mother, Elsie, passed away in 1969.
