This has created confusion among historians and relatives alike, resulting in the 1834 Aaron allegedly, supposedly, reportedly, having two wives (Marceline & Julia) and both sets of children as being his, with the identity crisis leaving the 1823 Aaron lost to history.
The 1834 Aaron Prosper Alger (FAG #28308146) and Marceline L. Savage (FAG #28308167) were married in Strafford, Vermont on December 2, 1858. When Marceline passed away on February 14, 1916, they had been happily married for 57 years, 2 months, 12 days.
The 1823 Aaron Prosper Alger married Julia Ann Hall on Feb. 1, 1854 in Chelsea, Vermont, and upon his death of Lung Fever on May 10, 1865 in Middlesex, Vermont, Julia Ann Hall Alger (FAG #43407884) married (2) Willis L. Roberts (FAG #43407871) in Strafford, Vermont on February 11, 1868, who was also marrying for a second time, as his first wife, Angeline Roberts (FAG #41547034), died October 1, 1867.
The children of Aaron and Julia were:
